Sometimes the official description of an application is so good that anything you could write about it would only be a longer or worse rewording of the original text. The description of Processing is one of them. Feel free to call me lazy if you want, but have a look for yourself:
Processing is an open source programming language and environment for people who want to program images, animation, and sound. It is used by students, artists, designers, architects, researchers, and hobbyists for learning, prototyping, and production. It is created to teach fundamentals of computer programming within a visual context and to serve as a software sketchbook and professional production tool. Processing is developed by artists and designers as an alternative to commercial software tools in the same domain.
Nice, is’nt it? Really the only thing I can add is that anyone that already started to love Apples Quartz Composer and doesent fear to write real lines of code should have a look at this application. It’s free and the documentations and downloadable examples are ace. (download page)
