Probably not as the text-to-speech voices that are part of OS X doesnt sound very charming. Actually by listening to them, I wouldn’t be surprised if you start to hear non-existing voices after a while.
Cepstral shows that it can be made much better. They made downloadable voices that sound much, much better. The voices can be tested for free, but will remind you that they aren’t registered from time to time before you enter the ($30) license key.
Now what can you do with your new voice? For example you could let your Mac talk for you if you’ve lost your voice or you can use it to announce new mails like this: “You have mail from: …” or just use them to speak out system warnings (can be found in the system preference pane).
