Yes, the very popular web company that tries to assimilate every information on the web, has finally released a first native OS X application, the Gmail Notifier. While there were already a handful of third party tools that delivered more or less the same functionality, for example Gcount or GmailStatus, it’s good to know that Google is now taking OS X serious. As it seems the Gmail Notifier will only be the first of a whole bunch of Google OS X applications. From the Google Blog:
Though this is the first, it won’t be the last native Mac application that Google delivers. So please, Mac users, stay tuned!
Oh, trust me, we Mac users will stay tuned. Especially an OS X version of Google Earth would make a lot of us happy and that you’re good with Unix should be known by now.
