Ever asked yourself how your website looks like for someone that is colorblind? For example if the text is still readable enough in case you’ve chosen two colors with a similar brightness level? Sim Daltonism is an application that can make you color blind for a while. Now don’t worry, the app doesn’t make your Mac shoot out laser beams into your eyes to make you color blind, really. The app just displays the area around your mouse in a separate window with changed colors. There’s more than one type of color blindness, these are the ones simulated by the app:
- Monochromacy (complete)
- Monochromacy (partial)
- Protanopia (complete red-green)
- Protanomaly (partial red-green)
- Deuteranopia (complete red-green)
- Deuteranomaly (partial red-green)
- Tritanopia (complete blue-yellow)
- Tritanomaly (partial blue-yellow)
Just have one thing in mind, if your monitor isn’t correctly calibrated, the filtered result will be off as well.
