1945 Vannevar Bush published an article in “The Atlantic Monthly” called “As We May Think”. The article described a human memory extender with the name “Memex“. The article was not only the idea giver for “Hypertext” and the web-links we all know and love, it was the inspiration for much more, for example the OS X application Onlife.
Onlife is an application that records every website you visit, every email you get, every chat and every text you write. Now of course the app doesn’t just record the data, that wouldn’t be anything the system couldn’t already do for you, the app tries to give you an interface to actually find this recorded data when you need them.
The application currently comes as a beta. I haven’t seen any huge issues with it till now, but there seems to be a window resize bug in the version I’ve tested. Anyway, all in all the application is already useable and if future versions add support to record the data of a bigger variety of applications, this little app could definitely become a great companion.
