Britta Gustafson loves menubar items, she loves them so much, that she made a list that contains most of them, she even made a menubar tutorial. Nice. Here are some of them that caught my eyes:
- HimmelBar: Launch applications, organized by folder.
- iSnip: Organize and access commonly-used text snippets.
- Jumpcut: Save and access your clipboard history.
- DeskShade: Manage your desktop pictures, lock your desktop, etc.
- MenuPrefs: Quickly access specific System Preference Panes.
- Script Menu: Run Applescripts from a drop-down list.
- Sticky Windows: Attach windows, in collapsed tab form, to the sides of your screen.
- SMARTReporter: Display the “health” status of your hard drive.
- Deviant: Link your desktop to any folder, effectively switching the items on it.
As you can see, it really doesn’t have to be a widget or a big application all the time, sometimes the good ol’ menubar is more than capable enough to take up the task.
