The scripting language Ruby and the framework Ruby on Rails is getting really popular lately, even outside Japan where the hype started. Ruby is an object oriented scripting language with a very intuitive and logical syntax that is relatively easy to learn and powerful. Especially the Ruby on Rails framework makes programming in Ruby a real joy.
Now of course OS X isn’t left out. Locomotive makes it pretty easy to install Ruby on Rails on an OS X machine. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of installing Rails on your own machine, you can try out Ruby on Rails on the web for a small fee at the RailsPlayground.
The Ruby on Rails manual and tutorials can be found over here and don’t miss the Rails podcast over here. Additionaly have a look at RubyCocoa, a Ruby/Objective-C bridge for OS X.
