Yes, you’ve read that correct, no JavaScript needed, just some very, very smart CSS. He uses xhtml 1.1 and it’s ability to let you extend the !DOCTYPE declarations. While it doesn’t validate with the official W3C validator, he uses tables in links, it’s cross platform compatible and should work in all the important browsers. Pretty smart and the trick allows you to have a working drop-down menu even if a visitor has JavaScript switched off.
