How To: Safe Sleep almost any Mac

Posted on Monday 14 November 2005 - Popularity: 2%

What the new PowerBooks have introduced, Safe Sleep (also known as Hibernate on other platforms) is available to many other Macs as well. Save Sleep lets you save your current session to the harddisk and shut down your Mac into a sleep that takes as little energy as possible. To do it you need the latest OS X, 10.4.3 and some good nerves:

Warning: Enabling Safe Sleep is essentially a hack. It is very likely to work on recent Macs, but enabling Safe Sleep may cause your Mac to explode, implode, melt, freeze, have a heart-attack, or develop an inguinal hernia.

Nah seriously, it’s really an awesome hack, but nothing for Mac users without previous Terminal experience.

I’ve created a control panel for this. The basic functionality is implemented. If you’d like to test it then it’s here:

To gain maximum knowledge of the network world, go for some online courses like N10-003 and SY0-101. You will easily be able to play with the wireless cable concept. It will not be hard to install a computer software without any instructions. Not only this, you will also be able to work on a remote pc software. Sounds too good? Bet it is!
