I’m sure all of you have bookmarked websites in your web browser or on a social bookmarking service, but have you ever bookmarked a folder on your system, an email, a terminal command or a photo in iPhoto? No? Than it may be time to learn about Hallon, a menubar application that lets you bookmark your system.
With Hallon you can bookmark many different things in a variety of applications. By default Hallon can bookmark contacts in your address book, files and folders, photos in iPhoto, songs in iTunes, emails in Mail, webpages in Safari and Terminal commands. Additionally you can add extra applications, currently Firefox, Microsoft Entourage and Camino. If you’re good with AppleScript, you can pretty easily add new ones. Now bookmarks are not all the same, this bookmarks can be commented and you can set due dates with an alarm that warns you when something should be done. Personally I would love to see tags, but that’s just me, maybe in one of the next versions. The app is open source aka free, so happy system bookmarking everyone.
