Do you miss the times when you were visually hunting for a music album that reflected your current mood? While there’s support for album covers in iTunes, the problem is that you just see the album of the current song you’ve selected, so it’s not exactly helpful to get that special visual feeling you had in the pre-mp3 days. However, if you have a second (or third) screen connected to your Mac, one that you don’t use that much, if that’s the case, wouldn’t it be nice if you could lay out album covers on it that you can double click to play? Well, you can.
Clutter displays the album cover of the currently playing song in a small window. The cool thing is that you can drag that cover out of the window and drop it over your desktop. All covers on your desktop are basically chromeless windows, so you can arrange them like any other window and if you double click the cover, it plays the album. Currently clutter is compatible with iTunes, the SqueezeBox and SoundBridge. The album covers are taken from your iTunes library or from Amazon. The app is free and you should definitely check it out if you miss the old days of physical music albums.
