If you’re running some huge or badly coded applications on a Mac with limited RAM and harddisk space and you start to wonder why the spinning wheel comes up more than usual, then you may find the tips on this list very useful. However, if you have a Mac with more than enough RAM and diskspace and all you run are perfectly bug tested apps, then you better just move on and have in mind that even the best OS can run into problems on limited hardware and badly written software. Here are the 9 tips, read more for the explanations of each point:
- Add more RAM
- Make sure you have enough free space on your startup volume
- Delete problematic .plist files
- Limiting the number of open applications
- More uptime, more stalls: Restart more often
- Dealing with most notorious culprit: Safari
- Disable AutoFill forms
- Use keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse clicks
- Perform an Archive and Install process
