Excellent interview with Matt Mullenweg, the creator of WordPress, the blogging software this site is using. Here’s a great statement about why he’s using an open source licensing model for this blog software:
In spite of the commercialization of many blogging systems, you’ve kept WordPress as an open source software. Why?
WordPress will always be open source and GPL, nothing else has ever even been considered as an option. I’ve been saying for a long time now that selling software is dead. And, I truly believe that the value created in the long term by open source is far greater than what a few piddling license fees that might add up to today.
And here’s a great comment about blogging in general:
Please share any other message or tips that you might have for bloggers, WordPress users and/or the general public.
I believe everyone has something to say. Don’t be shy and don’t be scared of yourself. It’s easy to forget how privileged we are just to have access to this web of billions of people and infinite information. Don’t squander it.
