Apple posts new transition information

Posted on Thursday 15 December 2005 - Popularity: 5%

Apple has posted a lot of new and very useful information about the transition to Intel based Macs. In one of the videos, “An Introduction to Universal Binaries” (you have to be logged in as an ADC member to watch it), an Apple developer with a nice French accent states that the Transition Resource Center will be your friend for the “next couple of weeks.” Maybe one hint more at a first Intel based Mac in January? After all the rumors making the rounds right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s actually the case. Guess some developers have to cancel their holiday plans this year if they want to be ready with an Intel optimized version of their applications.

I think you’re reading into it a bit, though I do think Intel Macs are coming in January. It could be that he believes you’ll spend a few weeks learning, or more likely they’ll be adding new transition content over the next few weeks, not to reveal when the new systems are coming.

    Yeah, possible.

I’ve just read this Engadget post: http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000860056167/

What I find interesting is that from all the new Intel chips, the one that’s most interesting for Apple (notebook chip and chipset) is released earlier than previously expected, right in time for the next MacWorld.
