I’m sure everyone knows how to use iPhoto by now and at least some of you will have an own photoblog, so how about an integration of those two? Wouldn’t it be cool to post photos directly to your blog from within iPhoto? Sure and there’s actually a solution to this, it’s called Photon, a free iPhoto plugin.
Basically Photon adds an additional export option “Weblog” to iPhoto where you can define the settings of your blog like blog-url, password … and things like the maximum width and height for exported photos and thumbnails. Following things can be sent to your blog: Photos, thumbnails, title, album name, comments, date taken, filename and keywords. You can add each of them to the following places: Entry title, entry body, extended entry, entry excerpt, keywords and the two attributes “alt” and “title”.
Currently Photon supports Movable Type, TypePad, Blojsom and WordPress, so most photobloggers should get this to work. I’m sure Photon could be even better integrated with iPhoto, for example with a right click option “blog this photo”, but it’s already very useful in its current form and definitely much better than the usual steps: export -> upload -> blog.
